Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Physicist - **Cancer Center**.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance of quality assurance program, supervision and review of dosimetrists tasks, review of planning procedures and oversight of the patient planning and treatment process with brachytherapy or external beam radiation therapy

Job Responsibilities:
    • Treatment Planning: Identifies and evaluates target volumes and critical structures. Generates QA plans as required for IMRT and reference points as needed for physics checks. Follows established policies and procedures as they relate to treatment planning. Demonstrated level of planning capability. Completeness of RT electronic charts: setup fields, DRR, CBCT, ref points, scheduling.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Quality Assurance: Performs assigned quality assurance tasks in a complete and timely fashion (linac monthly and annual QA, IMRT QA, brachytherapy QA). Performs assigned quality assurance tasks in a complete and timely fashion (initial chart checks, weekly chart checks, final chart review). Documents all quality assurance work in a complete and timely fashion and determines compliance in all categories included in the lists; initiates corrective action when necessary.
    • Participates in in-service programs and conferences. Attends all required department in-service meetings. Attends annual billing/documentation/safety classes. Attends annual Radiation Safety in-service.
    • Participation in training of Residents and Students: Assists in the training of Residents and Students on use of Eclipse or ARIA and the principle of treatment planning. Participates in research protocols.
    • Initiative: Makes suggestions for positive changes. Demonstrates ability to understand tasks and creatively apply solutions. Demonstrates ability to adopt and help develop new physics initiatives and policies. Readily accepts new assignments and responsibilities. Recognizes when help is needed by others and offers guidance and assistance. Monitors patient tracker to effect a smooth and orderly process for patients and staff.
    • Planning and Time Utilization: Work is thought out and planned in advance and successfully implemented. Coordinates own work to achieve efficiency and quality patient care. Work is completed in a timely manner, meeting schedules.
    • Documentation: All paperwork and electronic forms are complete, signed and labeled accordingly. Procedure codes are complete, timely and accurate. Documents, dates & signs all changes to treatment set-up. Documentation for clinical trials and protocols is coordinated with appropriate parties.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's of Science degree in physics or engineering and/or completion of a training/residency program or a Master's Degree in an accredited Medical Physics program. Well developed communication and computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification (ABR); Graduate of Medical Physics program

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $215,000.00 - $290,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
