An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an R&D Technician II, located at UOP's Research & Pilot Plant facility in Des Plaines, IL.

Be part of a team of engineers, scientists and technicians, working to develop a long-duration battery energy storage solution to enable large-scale adoption of renewable power. Experimental lab equipment setup, pilot plant operation, and data acquisition will be key aspects of this role. Following procedures to maintain safe operations is top priority in everything we do.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting innovative experiments, maintaining lab spaces, operation of pilot plants, and contributing to the advancement of our energy storage technologies.

The annual base salary or/ hourly pay range for this position is $49,100.00 - $65,000.00. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install and configure experimental electrochemical equipment
  • Work with all types of hand tools to complete repairs, preventative maintenance, and/or modifications to equipment
  • Follow operating procedures to safely execute battery prototype testing
  • Be accountable for maintaining a clean and safety-compliant lab space
  • Accurate measurement and documentation of experiments

YOU MUST HAVE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic hand tool skills, the ability to lift 35 pounds, and ability to work on elevated platforms
  • Ability to always practice professional and respectful conduct, as a part of a diverse and inclusive team
  • Ability to follow equipment operating procedures to safely execute battery prototype testing
  • Ability to follow procedures in handling hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
  • Basic mathematical and computer skills including basic arithmetic, scientific notation, exponents, fractions, decimals
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools and ability to monitor changing data through computerized interface
