Summary

The Mechanical Engineer II role is an experienced level position performing routine to moderately complex maintenance engineering functions on assigned projects and equipment by applying, standard mathematical, physical science, and engineering disciplines to support internal customers by ensuring production equipment is maintained and operating reliably.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Production and Maintenance organizations in the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Assists with new equipment specification, OEM site acceptance, installation, initial startup and maintains equipment documentation files.
  • Develops and maintains preventive and predictive maintenance procedures and evaluates results for proactive downtime mitigation.
  • Leads complex troubleshooting activities related to breakdowns and other reliability or throughput issues and assures communication with maintenance craft and equipment owners.
  • Assists in the design and management of new and current facilities projects, equipment improvement projects, and maintenance support improvement projects under guidance of technical experts.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex maintenance and troubleshooting issues by supporting maintenance machine repair people, electricians, and pipefitters.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for cost-effective improvements in equipment maintainability and reliability and supports improvements in productivity and safety.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • United States Citizenship
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job

We Value

  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems and determine root cause and appropriate corrective action for machine breakdowns.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, root cause and appropriate corrective action to maintain machine uptime.
  • Experience upgrading complex production manufacturing or laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with automated equipment controls including PC, PLC and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) controlled equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical theory, circuits, and hardware applications. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and logic sequences.
  • Machine design experience including modifications, upgrades, improvements, and modernization of production equipment.
  • Experience in the use of CAD or solid modeling software (AutoCad, Solidworks).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
