The Executive Director provides essential leadership in advancing the organization's strategic direction, workplace culture, and stakeholder relationships. This position is entrusted with developing and fulfilling the organization's mission, vision, and strategic plan. Further, this role is the key and leading role for the business of the organization, and involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and administering all of SAW Habitat for Humanity operations. The director's core responsibilities include the management and development of staff and programs; the financial health of the organization; and the cultivation of robust community-based relationships. The Executive Director must have the desire to lead a growing organization, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a sophisticated approach to operational and staff management, and a passion for Habitat's work. The director should be a forward thinker, developing relationships and programs that move the organization into the future as well as mentoring and developing new leaders, community partners and other critical relationships for the organization.

As the director they will be a primary advocate for affordable housing in Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County, and should have experience working with diverse groups of people to be effective, from low-income families seeking housing to government officials to financial partners. The Executive Director should be a positive, energetic leader who is passionate about the Habitat for Humanity mission and is able to excite and motivate a wide range of stakeholders. The Executive Director should be a mature professional, with relevant work experience, background in social services, nonprofit management, fundraising, and construction oversight. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors of SAW Habitat. The Executive Director will partner with the Board in strategic planning, serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization and oversee all aspects of the organization's complex operation. The Executive Director will lead the organization in achieving these strategic goals by developing and implementing strategic and operational plans and integrating the work of committees, staff, and volunteers into a coherent, consistent, and effective program of advocacy, construction, financing, and family support. The Executive Director ensures compliance with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) policies and is a leading advocate in the community for SAW Habitat. This work will result in successful home ownership for SAW Habitat partner families.

Essential roles and responsibilities include Strategic Leadership, Board Relations, Communications & Public Relations, Organizational Leadership & Management, as well as Financial & Fundraising Management.

Skills & Qualifications
Passion for the Habitat model and strong alignment with its mission and vision.
Preference for leadership experience in construction, non-profit, fundraising, community development, fiscal management, or other related fields.
Has successfully built or significantly contributed to organizational capability, including organizational design, staff development, fundraising, community partnerships, fiscal management, and/or board relations.
Demonstrated independent responsibility for program management and accomplishing results managing an annual budget in either the for-profit or not-for-profit world.
Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently and in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
Proficiency with technology and software resources.
Organizational leadership or high-level management experience in the nonprofit sector and an ability to manage many volunteers and staff.
A high degree of self-awareness, empathy, and an authentic ease in working with diverse people in varying circumstances.
A management style that prizes inclusion and collaboration, develops individual and team strengths, and promotes community; the ability to inspire, empower and value staff and volunteers.
A strong record of building mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and/or coalitions with win-win outcomes.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in relevant field, or equivalent tenure of professional experience.
Outstanding communication abilities; verbal, written, and public speaking.

Salary
Starting salary range: $75K - $90K annually / Full-time, FLSA exempt assuming a 40 hour work week, including some evenings and weekends. Generous PTO package.
