Job Overview

The Manager, Energy Audits as a member of Macy's Energy Team, brings a robust operational and technical background essential for supporting facility initiatives focused on energy management. This role entails providing leadership and analytical assistance to thoroughly assess Macy's energy opportunities and support the execution of reduction strategies. Candidates must demonstrate a successful track record of collaborating with teams to identify operational issues and implement effective solutions. Additionally, the Manager, Energy Audits conducts surveys of existing buildings and recommends improvement strategies to enhance energy efficiency and compliance with standards. They may also serve as a project manager or sponsor for various initiatives and perform additional assigned duties.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct thorough energy audits of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial buildings, applying expertise in energy efficiency principles and industry standards.
  • Manage the coordination with third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers to implement recommended energy-saving measures and upgrades, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Negotiate price and contractual agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms that support the organization's financial and operational goals.
  • Promote a proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and potential energy-saving opportunities in mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Utilize advanced analytical tools and software to analyze energy consumption data comprehensively.
  • Provide strategic direction and influence to Senior Facility Managers (SFMs), and Senior Directors to identify, suggest, and implement effective energy-saving measures and initiatives.
  • Develop detailed audit reports, prioritizing recommendations based on potential impact and feasibility.
  • Oversee the monitoring of post-implementation performance of energy-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with executives and senior leaders to align energy efficiency initiatives with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the development and delivery of training programs on energy efficiency practices and technologies including detailed inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring thorough documentation of findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Act as a key contributor in the talent selection for facility roles across the organization
  • Partner with People Leader to take appropriate corrective action up to discipline and/or termination.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on energy efficiency and sustainable building practices
  • Serve as a company Energy Management representative at internal and external meetings, conferences, and industry events
  • Ensure the accuracy of audit findings, recommendations, and project outcomes, maintaining transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and dedication to delivering exceptional service.
  • Frequently utilize computers and other technology to perform job functions, including handheld equipment.
  • Analyze and review financial performance to assess the financial energy-saving projects, making data-driven decisions to enhance profitability and cost efficiency.

Skills You Will Need

HVAC/Electrical/Building Automation Management: A strong foundation in HVAC, Electrical and Building Automation systems. Includes understanding of system components, principles, and operations. Knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) systems, as well as electrical wiring, Building Automation controls, and both high and low voltage circuits is essential.

Project Management: Proficiency in project management principles and practices to oversee installation, maintenance, and upgrade projects for HVAC, Electrical and Building Automation systems. This includes planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to assess the performance of HVAC and electrical systems, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements or optimizations.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze complex HVAC, Electrical and Building Automation systems, evaluate performance data, and make data-driven decisions to optimize efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Problem-Solving: Ability to examine data and identify issues with HVAC, Electrical and Building Automation systems and implement effective solutions with 3 rd party contractors in a timely manner.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and vendors. This includes conveying technical information in a clear and understandable manner.

Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maximize productivity in a fast-paced environment.

Collaboration: Aptitude for networking and collaborating with various departments for seamless project execution, promoting a collaborative work environment.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead others towards common goals, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and prior work experience with Building Automation System is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft reports and other communications; present to management and internal and external business partners; interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and/or diagram form; solve problems with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • This position may require constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
