The Department of Parks and Recreation has responsibility for the overall planning, supervision and coordination of all park and recreation facilities and services throughout Prince Georges County. The Facility Services Division (FSD), is the largest Division in Parks and Recreation. We provide high quality maintenance and maintenance support services for all of the Parks and Recreation facilities within Prince George's County. We have six major work areas: Fleet Management, Buildings & Structures (Trade Shops), Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects (Aquatics, Sustainability and Heavy Equipment/Roads and Grounds) and Administration section.

The mission of the Division is to provide professional, high quality maintenance and maintenance support services for all parks and recreation facilities and to support the diverse work programs of the Parks and Recreation Department and its customers, in order to provide a safe, well maintained, aesthetically pleasing parks and recreation system.

Examples of Important Duties

This position is located in the Major Maintenance section which consists of Lead Construction Representatives and an Architect. This person will direct and oversee the design & construction (approved CIP projects) work programs of the Construction as well as the Architecture, Engineering services sector provides a host of services surrounding the planning and building of commercial and residential projects that employ design and construction professionals in the planning and implementation of projects. This person will be coordinating the work efforts of our design and construction sections to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget. This person will also be responsible for ensuring the timely reporting of the status of all design & construction projects.

Duties:
  • Manages a County-wide major (repair-renovation-rehabilitation-replacement) design, project management and construction work program and unit.
  • Ensures work program and unit effectiveness.
  • Supervises two or more full-time unit staff and oversees the work of consultants and contractors including third-party construction inspectors.
  • Operates and refines a County-wide major maintenance management system for asset inspection and assessment, preventive-predictive maintenance and asset renovation-rehabilitation-replacement planning.
  • Reviews, approves and certifies (or ensures certification of) designs and final construction plans.)

Salary Range $83,980-$148,648

The hours of this position are 6:00AM to 2:45 PM, Monday thru Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or any related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance management or technical design and construction experience that includes substantive work in the range of duties and responsibilities in this class specification.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 11 years.
  • Valid Registered Professional License issued by any state within the United States consistent with one's field of professional-technical expertise (Architecture or Engineering) and the position of assignment is required for eligibility. A valid Registered Professional License issued by the State of Maryland consistent with one's field of professional-technical expertise is required within six months of appointment to a position in this class.
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.

    Eligibility
    You have 45 days from your hire date to elect your benefits. Your coverage begins on the first of the month following receipt of your enrollment forms and required documentation.
