Flexible Location

This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. ( with a preference for states within the West region-- Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming ). Frequent travel of up to 50% is required.

TNTP brings research, policy, and consulting together to reimagine America's public education system. Working collaboratively, we dig into educators' toughest challenges, and we provide actionable solutions grounded in evidence. This work takes place in schools and districts across the country, and our national position allows us to spot trends, collect and analyze data, and advocate for policy changes that introduce greater impact at scale. Our goal is to empower every student, breaking them free from the constraints of poverty and race, fostering innovation, and driving growth across the country. We collaborate across sectors and with school systems to ensure that the 3.5 million young people who graduate high school every year have pathways to economic and social mobility.

The Consulting Division is our professional services group, offering integrated services to our partners focused on ensuring academic excellence, educator talent support (e.g., teacher recruitment and school staffing), and community participation to awaken the full potential of every student. Staff on TNTP's Consulting Team work alongside teachers, school leaders, districts, and states to help them achieve their goals for students. We take a consultative approach, working alongside our partners to identify the biggest challenges to their goals, and work with them to plot ideas and solutions to bring those aspirations to life. Our consulting work ranges from light touch advisory engagements to multiyear implementation supports.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President, West/Midwest plays a critical role in setting vision, strategy, and growing TNTP's work in the West/Midwest region. The Vice President will report to the Chief Consulting Officer and will lead work across the spectrum of TNTP's services including talent, academics and environments that foster student success. They will identify and grow new areas of support based on emerging needs and pockets of success; spot innovations to keep TNTP as a leading-edge support provider; and actively bridge the work of education systems to ensure students achieve social and economic mobility.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Set a vision for a portfolio of consulting services aligned to TNTP's mission and current/future strategic plan that will help us and our partners achieve our goals for students.
  • Successfully lead sales efforts with new and existing partners throughout the West/Midwest region that align to strategic priorities, ensuring we meet budget and revenue targets.
  • Aim to make our work better and bolder in service of our vision for Economic and Social Mobility and our organizational impact and learning goals.
  • Build relationships with key external stakeholders to support the West/Midwest regional/divisional strategy.
  • Oversee finances at the regional level and support your management team to effectively budget and allocate resources to maximize impact.
  • Align the West/Midwest regional strategy and business decisions to TNTP's goals, priorities, in service of broader organizational health and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure the West/Midwest region meets its financial targets and goals for portfolio diversification, revenue, expense, and/or margin; particularly, focusing on expanding the TNTP footprint within the West/Midwest region.
  • Ensure and model inclusive and equitable management practices and behaviors across the West/Midwest region.
  • Create the conditions for and model innovation, creativity, and experimentation within the West/Midwest region.
  • Collaborate as part of an organizational leadership team collectively sharing responsibilities for staff experience, organizational goals, and the fiscal health of the organization.
  • Ensure and model compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies and expectations.


The expected travel for this role is up to and including 50%. Qualifications and Experiences

We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise:
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience working in or with senior-level teams (required)
  • Proven experience setting and achieving goals, shaping long term vision and driving strategies to achieve objectives (required)
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex organizational change efforts through multiple layers, necessary to shape the path for the region to follow in services of the organization's current and future strategic plan (required)
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams that are engaged, diverse, inclusive to deliver work of the highest quality and meet ambitious goals (required)
  • Enthusiasm about representing TNTP externally within a specific region and leading partnerships and business development efforts with new and existing clients and funders.
  • A broad understanding and point of view on emerging trends and what the future of the education, with a specific focus on how students can achieve social and economic mobility, and an innovative perspective on the role a consulting organization like TNTP can play within it.
  • A perspective to contribute at the leadership team level around economic and social mobility as we reorient to our future strategic plan.
  • Strong experience in managing budgets and maintaining the fiscal health and sustainability of assigned projects, including comfort managing profit and loss targets and revenue and expense goals.
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish (preferred)

You have a strong external network and can build relationships and identify options for new sources of funding for TNTP at the local and national level.

We're counting on your ability to develop strong relationships with senior level district, state, charter management organization and community partners throughout the region and utilize those relationships to build TNTP's presence and forge new partnerships for our work.

One of your greatest responsibilities and privileges will be to hire, grow and develop staff working on regional projects in your portfolio and ensure they have an inclusive and supportive work environment that reflects TNTP's culture and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Balance Regional and Organizational Leadership. You'll lead your region toward your goals and priorities while operating as a leader of the Consulting Division and TNTP. You'll thoughtfully navigation tensions between what is best for a region, for the division and for the organization. You recognize your role and your Management Team's role in maintaining a culture of One TNTP and will lead with that frame in mind. You'll be comfortable with the balance required to maintain strategic regional autonomy alongside consistency when needed.


WHAT WE OFFER

TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary range for this position is $151,000 - $226,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint at the following ranges depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

We also provide best-in-class comprehensive benefits, providing a wide range of plans and programs that are focused on supporting the physical, mental, and financial wellness of employees and their dependents. TNTP pays toward the cost of medical insurance plans and dental and vision plans. Our 403(b)-retirement plan has up to 7% matching contribution, as well as free financial planning and coaching services, and up to $600/year payment towards qualifying student loans . TNTP also provides fully paid life insurance, parenting benefits, lifestyle spending accounts, up to 12 weeks of fully paid medical leave, generous vacation time, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, and professional development. New employees start with 5 sick/personal days, accrue 15 days of vacation during their first year of employment, and receive approximately 24 paid holidays each year-including a Winter Break the last 2-weeks of December. We also provide a one-time home office start-up stipend of up to $1,100 and annual refresher amounts of up to $250/year, a TNTP-provided laptop and cell phone, and a home office stipend of $135/month .
