Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Documentation Specialist. In this role, the successful candidate as the Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes. Work closely with Coding to assist and/or coordinate in resolving documentation and coding issues. Participate in training to clinicians and provide ongoing support. Ensure that documentation practices and processes comply with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements. Participate in special projects when necessary. Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Current nursing (RN) license with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Bachelor's degree in HIM with current certification (RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS), and/or graduate education leading to MD, DO, or equivalent degree required. 2 years of experience in acute care, health care administration or commensurate experience. CCDS within one year of hire for all candidates. Experience with ICD-10 coding and DRG assignment. Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and clinical experience relevant to clinical and regulatory aspects of care and reimbursement.. Required Licenses: Reg Health Info Tech-RHIT, Reg Health Info Admin-RHIA, Registered Nurse License-NYS Preferred Qualifications: HIM or related field experience. 2 years of clinical documentation improvement experience. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $137,191.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
