Summary:

Provide psychosocial assessments for patient and their families. Provide individual and family therapy, cognitive supportive therapy and crisis intervention services. Triage services for further mental health interventions may be recommended and coordinated by this worker. The primary treatment group will include patients, families and/or their caregivers. This position will serve as a liaison between the department of Psychiatry and other medical specialties to allow for continuity of care.

This Prosper Cook Children's Medical Center 30 hour a week full-time role works with medical hospital inpatients to provide individual and supportive family therapy and crisis intervention services in order to assist in coping with admission including medical stabilization after an ingestion/suicide attempt, medical symptoms/injuries/diagnosis, prolonged hospitalization, acute mental health concerns, substance use, disordered eating, Functional Neurological Disorder, and high-risk taking behaviors among others. This Prosper Clinical Therapy role will include conducting Emergency Room Level of Care assessments, collaborating with the on-call Psychiatrist/NP to finalize recommendations, and manage transfers.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, (may provide rotating weekend & holiday coverage on a rotation basis as needed).

Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Social Work or related field required
  • Experience in Family, Individual, Group, and Play therapy required
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience required
  • Child growth and development education required
  • Licensed by State of Texas: LCSW or LPC
  • C.P.R. and CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
