GEG120 - GEG - 122 GEG 130 Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalent (LHE) basis. For library faculty, 1 LHE "Lecture Hour Equivalent" = 2.34 hours/week for 16 weeks. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. Those rates for the 2024-2025 academic year are $1191 /LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1262/LHE for faculty with doctorates... Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall & spring semesters where 3+ LHEs are taught in each semester. Applicants must be strong communicators and effective classroom / reference facilitators who enjoy teaching/working in a student-centered environment. Essential Functions of the Position:
Job Requirements: Master's degree in geography (economic and/or cultural) or Master's degree in related social science with at least 18 graduate semester hours in geography (based on course content) Preferred- Two years experience teaching college level courses in this area. Additional Information: Please note in job description that this individual must be able to teach IN PERSON at the Des Plaines or Skokie Campus. This will NOT be an online only teaching position. Part-time faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure the assignment of courses to more senior part-time faculty who are fully qualified by virtue of their education, training, work experience as related to current technology and pedagogical techniques, and who have had a history of successful performance at Oakton College. All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment. Once a course starts, the part time faculty member is expected to complete the course.
