We are seeking undergraduate students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related STEM field for a 10-Week Student Intern role to be working on a team with 5 openings in Waltham, MA for a June 2nd - August 8th contract period.
Position Duties:
Applicants will have opportunity to work in a sub-specialty in either synthetic, analytical/structural, or computational chemistry to focus on during their internship. Definitions of sub-specialized roles are as follows:
- Synthetic chemists are expected to synthesize, purify, acquire, and analyze data of chemical intermediates from multi-step syntheses and final drug candidates that are submitted for biological evaluation, while following safety/environmental protocols and documenting experiments in laboratory notebooks
- Analytical/structural chemists are expected to purify, acquire and analyze data to characterize purity, structural, dynamical and physicochemical properties of chemical compounds, while following safety/environmental protocols and documenting experiments in laboratory notebooks
- Computational chemists are expected to apply state-of-the-art scientific software to generate and/or evaluate new molecule ideas with the prediction of physical chemical properties and binding affinity
Position Requirements:- Undergraduate sophomore and junior students working towards a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related STEM field. **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
- Completion of organic chemistry I/II and the accompanying organic chemistry laboratory coursework is required
- Research experience, including that in an academic setting, in synthetic, analytical, or computational chemistry is preferred.
- Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
- Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status).
- Ability to report onsite to Waltham, MA 5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0
