Position overview

As a QA Tester at Geocaching, you ensure that quality assurance processes and best practices are in place, and are followed, with respect to all aspects of operations and projects. You will work with our awesome team of developers and designers to deliver high quality custom applications while developing new processes and tools to further automate testing and create a self-help QA environment. You must be self-motivated and able to balance the need for quality delivery now while improving tools and processes for the future. We are working toward an approach which makes Quality a team responsibility, and this role will not only perform testing, but provide guidance and reinforcement to the delivery team toward this goal. As a QA resource for two delivery teams, you will be helping other team members learn how to contribute to the manual and automated testing effort, in addition to your own testing.

Responsibilities and duties

Help deliver updates, fixes, and new features to web and mobile platforms
Work with the delivery team to construct or refine team QA processes
Spearhead testing efforts across a mix of roadmap features, maintenance tasks, and live-service deployments
Create test plans and processes for our established websites, apps, and services as well as in-development projects. Collaborate with team members to understand deliverables, testing, and requirements.
Occasionally coordinate or participate in cross-team testing efforts for features that span our products
Identify opportunities for improving our ability to identify bugs and optimizations early in the development process
Act as owner and point-of-contact on the development team’s QA processes, philosophy, and education
Other tasks and projects as assigned


Skills and experience

3+ years experience in QA
Strong testing and problem isolation skills
Experience crafting test plans and test cases; bonus points for automated test suites
Experience testing Android and iOS mobile applications (preferred) Experience testing modern Javascript-based web stacks preferred

Bonus points

Familiarity with JIRA or other task-tracking software
Familiarity with geocaching

Compensation and benefits

We carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your experience and internal equity, when determining individual pay. The range for this role is 77,910 - 118,420. This position is eligible for annual salary increases and bonus (dependent on company & individual performance).
