Salary: Salary for Foreign Service Limited (FSL) Level 01, Step 1 starts at (USD) $163,964 per year; see ADS 470, Pay Under the Foreign Service, for salary setting guidelines. Number of Vacancies: One Description of Organization: TS provides technical and analytical support to ASIA and Mission leadership teams and to intra-agency and interagency partners on strategy formulation and execution in support of the Administration's foreign policy priorities. To advance these priorities, TS designs, procures, and manages regional and transboundary activities that bolster field-based programming. TS' five technical divisions provide analytical support to field and Washington, DC-based clients in key areas, such as political and economic stability, climate change and natural resource management, agriculture, health, education, democracy and governance, economic growth, energy and infrastructure. TS provides technical direction on the Bureau's interactions with the National Security Council (NSC) and the interagency. TS' technical thought-leadership shapes creative and innovative solutions that respond to emerging challenges and opportunities throughout the ASIA region. Description of Position: The position will be within TS' Health team, a ten-person team. TS fields ASIA's technical experts on the health trends in the sector throughout the ASIA region, serving the functions of technical service provision, liaison, coordination, outreach, program design, and management. The Health team responds to presidential and congressional initiatives. The Health team also provides technical leadership and advice to the Assistant Administrator (AA) for ASIA, Deputy Assistant Administrators (DAAs), and Mission leadership teams as well as coordinates with ASIA's Missions to ensure the most effective use of USAID-funded assistance. This Global Health Security Advisor position in ASIA is a core member of the Health team. The primary responsibility of the Health Development Officer is to assist USAID field Missions to develop, maintain, and evaluate a portfolio of strategic activities that support Agency and Bureau objectives related to the health sector. Because this position is expected to interface with the NSC and to address issues of national security in relation to the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), this position requires a Top Secret security clearance.
