Salary Range: $1,114 - $1,203 per FLH

Work Mode: This position requires some regular in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations, depending on business needs of the office.

Position Summary

We're looking for instructors that are enthusiastic and engaging with students, and willing to be a team player with other full time and part time faculty and staff members. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to EMT or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) students, preparing them for state and national certification exams and field practice. This role involves developing, implementing and grading within the EMS curriculum, conducting classroom lectures, and hands-on skills labs. The instructor collaborates with full-time instructors and the Director of EMS to ensure students receive comprehensive and current EMS education. Additionally, the instructor must maintain their own certifications and pursue continuing education to stay updated with advancements in emergency medical services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Teach assigned class(es) in accordance with expectations specified by the Director of EMS.

Develop scenarios, lesson plans, and test questions.

Assess student progress in meeting the learning objectives through formal and informal assessment to include assigning grades.

Prepare students for state and national paramedic certification exams.

Provide mentorship and feedback to students on performance, skills, affective behavior and professional development.

Adhere to safety procedures and departmental standards.

Meet required deadlines for submitting grades, attendance, and other information, as requested.

Certifications need to be up to date and submitted within 1 month of recertification.

Physical demands: Lifting medical equipment, manikins, bending and standing for long periods of time and demonstrating physical procedures

Required Qualifications:

Minimum:
Maryland EMT certification.
Minimum Experience Requirements: 2+ years experience as a EMT
Prior teaching experience with an accredited paramedic program; MFRI Instructor or NAEMSE Instructor
Letter of recommendation from chief or supervisor where certification is held

MICRB instructor
Bachelors degree in EMS or related field
Instructor ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, AMLS
