    Job Description

    PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

    The Associate Dean builds schedules to meet student needs, offer programs for student success, and guide the adjunct faculty on instructional methods and technology. The Associate Dean provides instructional leadership for 80 Adjunct Faculty across 23 disciplines, as well as for the Learning Commons and Tutoring Center. This role also ensures administrative support services are provided to students, faculty, and staff.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Create multiple discipline schedules
  • Hire part-time workers, work study students, and qualified Adjunct Faculty to ensure instruction delivery for various delivery modalities
  • Approve payroll records
  • Observe, train, and audit adjunct faculty members and work study students
  • Request and approve budgetary items for the Learning Commons and Tutoring Center
  • Perform SACS-related audit of syllabi and curriculum vitae
  • Resolve student and faculty issues to ensure optimal delivery of instruction
  • Mentor Adjunct Faculty to ensure quality of instruction meets the mission and vision of the college
  • Coordinate FCAT meetings so that instructional information can be disseminated to college stakeholders
  • Coordinate All Faculty Night for all faculty and staff
  • Utilize SharePoint as an instructional resource for troubleshooting issues, building course schedules, and tracking Adjunct Faculty accountability measures
  • Communicate instructional updates and questions to leadership team
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration on new course offerings, course formats, and coordinating events
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of related work experience

    Hiring salary range is $72,821-$83,744

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
