Work Mode: This position requires a full-time in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations. AACC is a tenure-granting institution. Any candidate hired as a full-time faculty member may be eligible to apply for tenure in the future based on institutional eligibility requirements. AACC offers daytime, evening, weekend, hybrid and online classes. Full-time faculty contracts begin Aug. 16 and end June 15 Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. Job Duties and Responsibilities The position in nursing is in the following specialty areas: Medical- Surgical Nursing. Faculty for the Nursing department should demonstrate initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, and collaboration with the ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings to accommodate the department and college needs. A strong candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to teach introductory nursing students who are part of a diverse student population. Faculty work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and requirements from the Maryland Board of Nursing as well as institutional requirements such as learning outcome objectives and course/program review. Faculty will collaborate with education partners, business/industry, and/or external agencies as appropriate to promote the instructional mission and vision of AACC. Provide oversight of lab equipment and student records. Maintain student records in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (examples but not limited to: Colleague and CANVAS). Attend college professional development sessions, and college/school/department meetings. The PN program is year-round; summer hours are expected. Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms for teaching and assessing student learning; six office hours per week during the spring and fall terms which includes student advising and mentoring, professional development and department, school, and college/community service. Courses to be instructed include lecture (including synchronous and asynchronous online), lab, clinical and simulation. The position will require in-state travel to affiliate clinical sites and potentially off-site instruction. Candidates should be committed to student-centered, outcomes-based education with experience incorporating multiple instructional strategies and the use of technology in teaching and learning. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees in the department, school of health sciences, and the college Required Qualifications: Master's degree in nursing Minimum of two years of current full-time equivalent nursing experience in Medical- Surgical Nursing. One-year experience (30 credit hours) with teaching and curriculum Current Registered Nurse license CPR certified Demonstrated leadership skills Strong customer service and critical thinking skills Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive environment and the ability to deal tactfully with diverse internal and external constituents Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some evening and weekends to accommodate the needs of the program Preferred Qualifications: PN Experience Teaching experience at the community college level Teaching skill labs using simulation Bilingual or other language proficiency |
