We are seeking undergraduate sophomores and juniors or masters-level students majoring in a relevant technical field such as engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, data science, or a related discipline for a 12-Week Student Intern role to be working on a global team with 8 openings in Gaithersburg, MD for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.

Job Description:

The Global Technical Operations (GTO) organization at AstraZeneca is excited to offer multiple summer internship opportunities for 2025. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students to join GTO at AstraZeneca for the summer of 2025, focusing on the commercialization and on-market aspects of AstraZeneca's biological products. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturing Process: Gain insights into the manufacturing processes of AstraZeneca's biological products, including process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Analytical Science: Work on cutting-edge analytical techniques and technologies to support the development and quality control of biological products.
  • Data Science, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence: Contribute to the digital transformation of technical operations through the application of artificial intelligence and other advanced digital technologies.
  • Regulatory Submission: Learn about the regulatory requirements and processes involved in the submission of biological products for approval.
  • Combination Products: Gain exposure to the unique challenges and opportunities associated with combination products, including drug-device combinations.
  • Technology Transfer: Contribute to the transfer of technologies between different sites and partners, ensuring seamless integration and knowledge exchange.

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate sophomores and juniors or masters-level students majoring in a relevant technical field such as engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, data science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong academic performance and a genuine passion for technical operations and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • MS Office experience required, with PowerBI experience being a plus
  • Computer programming and coding skills are a plus
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with an eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status). This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
  • Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD 3-5 days a week dependent on assigned project. This role will not provide relocation assistance, and local applicants will be prioritized.
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0
