Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Creative Arts Therapist.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing creative arts therapy services for designated patient population/area under the general guidance of Supervisor or Director

Job Responsibilities:
    • Utilizes knowledge expertise and resources to assess plan and prioritize appropriate individual and group creative arts therapy interventions for assigned patient population Seeks and assimilates information from team members patient family and medical record to perform appropriate assessment Assesses patients rsquo; interests and creative/expressive goals using knowledge of human development disease/condition treatment healthcare stressors cultural and family systems Determines and prioritizes scope and depth of creative arts therapy services recommended for each patient based on assessment/reassessment and communicates care plan to physician interdisciplinary team members patient and family as appropriate
    • Plans organizes and implements creative arts therapy programs for designated clinical area Ensures that the program is varied and engaging to meet the psychological cognitive physical functional social and cultural needs of patients and as applicable family members while meeting the guidelines established by discipline specific and applicable regulatory agencies Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of individual and group interventions in meeting patients rsquo; treatment and psychosocial goals
    • Complies with all policies and procedures for the department hospital and external credentialing agencies including safety and infection control protocols/prevention
    • Incorporates the family when appropriate in order to facilitate the patient rsquo;s care and healing as well as family member coping and well being Provides consultation education and support to families on the impact of patient condition healthcare experiences and environmental factors on the patient rsquo;s adaptation and treatment Supports family bonds and utilizes family strengths in the care of the patient/family member
    • Provides through direct and indirect involvement a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals and groups Selects a safe appropriate supply of materials and equipment to address the needs and goals of the assigned area and population Assists departmental staff members in the effective purchase donation delivery and storage of materials utilized in programming Collaborates with Environmental Services and others to promote a clean safe and functional space for use by patients and as applicable families Identifies environmental safety hazards and corresponding preventive/protective measures
    • Builds and maintains positive collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary team members integrating goals and plans to promote optimal patient care safety patient/family centeredness and satisfaction Participates in team conferences rounds staff meetings and in service education as appropriate Recommends consults/referrals when patient needs are beyond the scope of Creative Arts Therapy
    • Participates in ongoing professional development to enhance job performance and contribute to the accomplishment of departmental and creative arts therapy goals Demonstrates the ability to evaluate own performance and integrate feedback into practice Annually develops professional goals with measurable objectives Prioritizes plans and organizes work for timely outcomes Identifies and documents participation in activities to maintain current knowledge clinical practice and professional certification Communicates needs and/or concerns to supervisor in professional manner
    • Upholds professional code of ethical responsibility including the establishment of therapeutic relationships with patients and families that are clear caring and boundaried nbsp;
    • Documents services provided to patients/families appropriately effectively and in a timely manner Maintains data collection and dissemination as required by Hospital and departmental policy
    • Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
weekend rotation model

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in Art Therapy with skills using variety of arts methods modalities and materials Certified by appropriate professional organization LCAT eligible or permit upon hire with licensure granted within two years.

Required Licenses: Creative Arts Therapist Permit

Preferred Qualifications:
One year Creative Arts Therapy experience in a healthcare setting

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51,243.96 - $74,200.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
