Job Description:

This internship is designed to be an 11-week full-time opportunity beginning June 2025 and concluding August 2025. The program is ideal for current Sophomore or Junior undergraduates seeking experience and exposure to diverse careers in healthcare. Interns will join one of the areas of Strategy & Growth to support the team in their core mission. Sample work includes:

Commercial Markets is the market facing sales, account management, and leadership team that is responsible for growing revenue and membership for CareFirsts commercial lines of business. Our teams sell our products and services into the Mid-Atlantic market to individual members, small/mid-size employers, local government and labor unions, and large multisite national employers.

Get hands on experience in the health insurance industry, supporting our team in managing client relationships, driving sales initiatives, and contributing to the growth of our business.
  • Support the sales team in addressing client inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction
  • Assist in the preparation of sales presentations and proposals
  • Develop an understanding of the health insurance industry including benefit & mandate requirements for fully insured, self-insured, and Medicare Advantage groups
Education Level :

Undergraduate Track: Current Sophomore or Junior pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or a related field with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Required Abilities/Skills :
  • Independent thinker and self-starter who can also work as part of a team
  • Project management experience or education preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic and creative decision maker who can motivate self without constant supervision
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including assisting with presentations and proposals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills with various computer applications/software, particularly those related to database management and the development of presentations.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The hire range posted is an annual rate. All of our interns will be paid an hourly rate.
