Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Cardiac Sonographer **Outpatient Pediatrics**.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing, measuring, and analyzing all aspects of cardiac ultrasound testing. This includes M-mode two-dimensional pulsed and continuous wave color flow, Doppler transesophageal echocardiography, TEE stress echocardiograms, including pharmacological stress testing, intraoperative echocardiograms, 3D reconstruction tissue, Doppler color M-mode contrast echocardiography perfusion studies, acoustic quantification, AQ acoustic densitometry AD, as well as vascular studies such as color flow Doppler and imaging of the renal arteries, carotid arteries, aortic stents and pseudoaneurysms. Supervises and trains student sonographers cardiac fellows and residents.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Provides for patient comfort and arranges equipment for procedures
  • Prepares equipment and supplies according to established departmental procedures
  • Interacts with patients by identifying self to patient and verifies the identity of the patient by checking the patient ID bracelet or verbal acknowledgement by patient
  • Explains the procedures and equipment to the patient clearly
  • Provides for patient privacy at all times
  • Utilizes patient chart in obtaining pertinent history as necessary
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, cardiac hemodynamics, electrophysiology, as well as the major disease processes of the cardiovascular system
  • Assesses and critiques the patients echocardiogram deciding what is necessary for a complete diagnostic study
  • Alerts the appropriate medical staff of abnormalities that require immediate attention
  • Is prepared to assist the cardiologist in the event of a cardiac emergency
  • Compares present echocardiograms to previous studies to monitor changes in present status
  • Carries out assignment within a realistic time frame
  • Documents the echocardiogram according to departmental procedures
  • Enters, maintains, and records all pertinent data
  • Informs physician of any changes in patient's condition or vital signs
  • Maintains equipment for proper function and safety
  • Cleans and prepares equipment for patient applications
  • Sterilizes equipment after each isolation patient and TEE Study, in accordance with nursing and departmental policy
  • Performs predetermined preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely
  • Makes recommendations concerning departmental needs
  • Evaluates and makes recommendation for new equipment
  • Interacts with service personnel to arrange for equipment maintenance in the absence of the supervisor
  • Provides training to new sonographers students and other medical center personnel
  • Instructs personnel in scanning techniques instrumentation review and interpretation of echocardiograms in clear manner
  • Trains new sonographers in changes to existing or new department policies and procedures
  • Functions as resource person for junior staff, utilizing expertise in the field
  • Collects and prepares technical data correctly for publication and research

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have an Associate's Degree, Two years of college, and completion of an accredited program in Ultrasound or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered by the American Registry to Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credential CCI Registry. Minimum of three years of experience in echocardiography. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required. Must maintain active registry status.

Required Licenses: Cardiovascular Credential Int_CCI, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

Preferred Qualifications:
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer greater than three years

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $111,007.62 - $123,389.62 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
