Primary Purpose

The Leadership Giving Officer is responsible for the identification and solicitation of leadership annual gifts from research-identified and acquired prospects as well as a select portfolio of current donors. By qualifying and soliciting individuals capable of making leadership gifts of $2,500 to $25,000 to the Foundation, the incumbent will increase annual giving revenue while developing a strong pipeline of major gift donors.

Minimum Specifications

Education
  • Must have a bachelor's degree.

Experience
  • Must have three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in development, fundraising, or alumni relations.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities
  • Track record of securing individual gifts with outstanding follow-through and stewardship of donors' investments.
  • Experience recruiting and managing volunteers in the development process. Demonstrated ability for a very high activity level in the field, strong initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with hospital staff, physicians, and other medical professionals, donors, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to initiate programmatic activities independently, organize/set priorities, and complete work in a timely manner despite deadlines and competing requirements. Ability and willingness to be a team player and to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities
  1. Manages a portfolio of mid-level annual prospects and donors. Gains familiarity with assigned prospects and develops fund-raising strategies, assess interest and desires of prospects and donors, and prepares timely proposals for solicitation.
  2. Identifies, cultivates, and personally solicits individual giving prospects for gifts in the range of $1,000 - $24,999. Manages appropriate stewardship and recognition of each gift received.
  3. Meet and exceed a set number of metrics including but not limited to visits, solicitations, dollars raised, and referrals to major gift portfolios.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to help align donors' philanthropic interests with various priorities across the health system and initiate opportunities for hospital leadership, board members, volunteers, and program directors to interact with prospects and current donors.
  5. Provide timely post-visit follow-up, including tracking moves and solicitations, and sending personalized follow-ups to individual prospects.
  6. Make donor referrals to major gift officers, as appropriate.

  8. Attend hospital and foundation-wide events as needed.


Job Accountabilities
  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
