Description

The Lead Carpenter responsible for supervising a team, applying carpentry best practices and consistently adhering to and meeting project schedules/deadlines. Must be able to interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications. Experience and advanced skills in residential new home construction, as well as proficiency working with composite and wood materials.

Responsibilities:
Leadership role in planning and executing carpentry tasks with a focus on maintaining high-quality energy efficient standards
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications to guide the team effectively
Accurately measure and cut wood and composite materials for various construction projects with precision and attention to detail
Apply advanced problem-solving skills to overcome challenges in project execution, ensuring, budget-conscious, efficient and effective resolutions
Collaborate closely with the team to ensure a seamless workflow, efficiency, and the achievement of project goals
Supervise and guide volunteers, staff, and apprentices during specific project tasks, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
Apply expertise in the home building process, showcasing proficiency in working with composite and wood materials
Possess a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work consistently, all done within a safe work environment
Willing to embrace Habitat Passive building standards to ensure our homes are Net-Zero ready

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in residential new home construction, (or 7 years combined new and remodel experience) demonstrating advanced skills and understanding of the construction processes
2 years in a leadership role, with a track record of successfully managing carpentry teams & projects
Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications while making and documenting changes such as redlines and as-built documents
Mastery in using a wide range of hand and power tools, including advanced carpentry equipment
In-depth knowledge of wood and composite materials, with the ability to select, handle, and manipulate materials effectively
Advanced problem-solving skills to address complex challenges inherent in carpentry projects
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey instructions and collaborate seamlessly with team members
Experience in overseeing and mentoring apprentices, contributing to professional growth
A safety-conscious mindset, demonstrating a deep understanding of and adherence to safety protocols (OSHA 30 preferred)
Required to successfully pass HFHI competent person training
Physical stamina and ability to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and materials (50-60 lbs)
Requires a valid driver's license
