Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist, Clinical Flow Cytometry.

In this role, the successful candidate assist Pathologists with creating draft reports compiling and analyzing data from flow cytometers with relevant clinical information and diagnostic templates. Works with pathologists to finalize report templates.

Job Responsibilities:
    1. Reviews the clinical rationale for the flow cytometry order which may include reviewing prior pathology specimen reports.
    2. Selects and places appropriate flow cytometry panel orders in Epic Beaker.
    3. In case of leukemia/lymphoma/myeloma follow up assesses the need for custom antibody combinations custom tube and/or MRD assay. This may include reviewing the abnormal immunophenotype at diagnosis as described on the diagnostic flow cytometry report.
    4. Populates the immunophenotyping section of the corresponding flow cytometry report in EPIC Beaker with the appropriate template according to specimen type blood bone marrow tissue fluid.
    5. Opens the corresponding raw fcs files that have been exported to the path flow server using the flow cytometry analysis software.
    6. Analyzing each fcs file carefully determining whether there are abnormal findings. Selects the appropriate template for the specimen type to complete the flow cytometric immunophenotype of the abnormal cell subset.
    7. Reports all cell subset percentages cell enumeration as required by case templates for all cases.
    8. Supporting pathologist team with report drafting and editing when needed.
    9. Position requires the ability to visually analyze instrument scatter plots and histograms.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in the major of biology, chemistry, or similar discipline from an accredited college or university
  • License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by New York State Department of Health
  • Data analytics experience
  • Good communication and computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months experience in a Flow Cytometry Clinical Laboratory
  • Knowledgeable in quality control processes and laboratory automation

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
