We are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Platform Architect to lead the design and development of our SaaS platform architecture. You will be responsible for defining and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with our business objectives. Working closely with multi-functional teams, you will ensure that our architecture supports the needs of multiple products while maintaining a cohesive and strategic platform approach.

You will apply your deep expertise around multi-tenet architecture to support the uplift of newly ready products and those in development, a crucial strategic priority. You will understand the outstanding challenges that come with these offerings, particularly the importance of crafting a robust and flexible data model that supports multi-tenancy, data isolation, and efficient resource management. Your experience will be key in shaping how our products not only meet the demands of our customers but also adhere to best practices in security, scalability, and maintainability, which are vital to our success.

As a leader, you will drive our internal enterprise architecture practices. You will help shape the comprehensive alignment of technology and business strategies across the organization. The job entails the development and management of enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and successful approaches that foster consistency, scalability, and security across our systems and platforms. This role requires someone who can think strategically about the long-term architecture while also diving into the technical details to ensure flawless execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and evolve our platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the architectural aspects of the platform, including infrastructure, databases, APIs, and security frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineering teams, and other partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Stay updated on the newest technologies and industry trends, driving innovation and continuous improvement in our architecture.
  • Ensure that the platform adheres to security best practices and is aligned to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation to guide development and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Establish and reinforce architectural guidelines, standards, and practices to create consistency and quality across all products.
  • Make significant contributions to the overall technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring that architectural decisions support long-term business objectives.
  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology strategies.
  • Work closely with teams to ensure that their technology needs are met while adhering to enterprise-wide standards and best practices.
  • Establish and enforce governance processes to ensure consistency, security, and compliance across all technology projects and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic technology roadmap that supports the long-term vision of the company, ensuring that all systems and platforms are scalable and adaptable to future needs.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to recommend improvements to the existing technology stack, ensuring that our enterprise architecture remains innovative and efficient.
  • Identify potential risks associated with technology decisions and develop strategies to mitigate these risks while aligning with business goals.


Required Experience & Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, focused on SaaS platforms.
  • Bachelor's Degree or HS Diploma with additional equivalent experience
  • Proven track record in a senior or principal architect role.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically AWS, microservices architecture, API design, and database management (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Strong understanding of security principles, including encryption, identity management, and compliance with regulations like GDPR or HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) and experience with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead architectural projects, manage stakeholder relationships, and mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating sophisticated technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. This role is aligned to our Gaithersburg MD location. Remote or travel constructs are not available.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $176,800 to $265,200. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
