Title and Summary Vice President, Software Engineering Overview: Mastercard's Data Governance & Regulation (DG&R) team is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Software Engineering to lead the development and delivery of critical software solutions that enable Mastercard's global data cataloging and governance capabilities. This leader will oversee multiple engineering teams across geographies, driving the design, development, and implementation of a scalable, modern Data Cataloging & Governance platform. This platform will serve as a foundational component for internal data discovery and governance, empowering Mastercard's data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills, a strong grasp of Agile methodologies, and a passion for fostering innovation and collaboration across teams and stakeholders. Role: • Drive the vision, strategy, and execution for developing and implementing Mastercard's modern and scalable Data Cataloging & Governance platform, critical for enterprise-wide data discovery and governance initiatives. • Provide leadership and strategic direction to multiple engineering teams, guiding the analysis, design, development, and delivery of solutions that align with Mastercard's global data governance objectives. • Collaborate with business owners, product managers, and other technology teams to define roadmaps, set priorities, and execute strategies effectively. • Lead and oversee engineering teams across multiple geographies to ensure alignment, collaboration, and delivery excellence. • Successfully manage large-scale, complex projects with broad organizational impact and long-term business implications. • Build, mentor, and retain top technical talent while fostering a culture of innovation, growth, and inclusion. • Drive the adoption of best practices in engineering design, architecture, and development, ensuring all solutions are scalable, resilient, and high-performing. • Lead quality inspections, architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and security reviews to ensure compliance with Mastercard's standards. • Evaluate and manage technology relationships with vendors, integrators, and third-party service providers to deliver high-quality solutions. • Act as a thought leader and advocate for Agile practices, promoting continuous improvement in delivery and operational processes. • Maintain alignment with internal and external stakeholders, crafting clear and impactful communications across all levels of the organization. • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess risks, remove roadblocks, and deliver technology solutions aligned with business objectives. All About You: • Proven track record in senior leadership roles (e.g., Director, Vice President) managing medium-to-large engineering teams to deliver enterprise-scale technology solutions. • Strong history of mentoring and developing talent while driving a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration. • Hands-on experience in software engineering, development, and architecture, with a deep understanding of modern enterprise technologies. • Experience leading teams to build solutions optimized for scalability, resiliency, and performance. • Expertise in SaaS enterprise tools, including configuration, standardization, and lifecycle management. • Strong communicator with the ability to align stakeholders across technical and business domains, presenting information effectively to all levels of the organization. • Ability to balance long-term strategy with near-term execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. • Advanced knowledge of software engineering concepts, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Detail-oriented, proactive, and highly motivated, with the ability to operate independently in a high-pressure environment. • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, resolve conflicts, and drive decision-making in cross-functional settings. • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
