The Prince George's County Park Police Division, of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), is seeking applications for a Background and Recruitment Administrator.

This role encompasses a wide range of analytical responsibilities within the Park Police Division, focusing on various functional areas at the proficient level. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, human resources (HR) management, training, financial management (budgeting, accounting, financial analysis), purchasing and contracting, management and/or program analysis, and Planning Board support. The specific area(s) of assignment may vary, with the incumbent selecting and applying guidelines to conduct, coordinate, monitor, and review business transactions. They identify the need for updated standards, procedures, or programs, drafting guidelines, operational manuals, and reports accordingly. Additionally, they provide analysis on administrative management matters, ensuring programmatic compliance and effectiveness.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Conducts research and analysis on Park Police Recruitment and Background Investigation program procedures, assessing efficiency and effectiveness and recommending improvements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information including legally protected personal information and proprietary data.
  • Conducts research to identify emerging issues in the functional areas of assignment.
  • Stays informed of developments and changes in guidelines relevant to the assigned work areas.
  • Conducts initial background interviews, prepares reports, and assists with various administrative tasks related to Park Police recruitment.
  • Acts as a liaison between agencies and administers necessary tests and screenings.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, establishing and maintaining working relationships.
  • Utilizes computer software for various administrative tasks.
Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge and skill in the specific field(s) of work, including HR management, finance, or related areas.
  • Problem-solving abilities to process relevant information and develop solutions.
  • Effective communication skills to understand and convey information.
  • Interpersonal skills for business interactions and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for administrative tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Notary Public certification.
  • IAPRO experience.
  • CJIS Fingerprinting certification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business or any related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management,finance or any other related field of business administration.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 6 years.

    Working Conditions:
    Primarily office-based with occasional outdoor work. Work is predominantly sedentary with light physical effort. May encounter high work volume and tight deadlines.

    Eligibility
    You have 45 days from your hire date to elect your benefits. Your coverage begins on the first of the month following receipt of your enrollment forms and required documentation.

    Retirement Programs
    • Defined Benefit Plan (Mandatory Participation) - Plan E excludes FOP members.

    • Benefits paid at 66 2/3% of base salary, maximum of $6,000/month

    Supplemental Long-Term Disability Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)
    • Benefits paid at 66 2/3% of base salary that exceeds $108,000; capped at $216,000

    Basic Life and AD&D Insurance (Employee Pays 20%: Commission Pays 80%)
    • Two (2) times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000 for each
    • Automatic coverage with opt-out provision

    Supplemental and Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)
    • Supplemental - 1,2,3,4, or 5 times base salary; maximum benefit is $750,000
    • Spouse/Dependent Combination - $10,000/$5,000, $20,000/$10,000, or $30,000/$15,000

    Sick Leave Bank (Contribution and Benefit hours prorated for part-time employees)
    • Employees have 60 days from date of hire to enroll.
    • Employee contributes 8 leave hours each year
    • Annually covers up to 688 hours for own serious medical condition, and 480 hours for parental responsibilities (birthadoption or foster care), and 80-160 hours for serious medical condition of an immediate family member
