Director, Global Oncology Publications (GuGYN Tumor) OBU

Join us at AstraZeneca's Oncology Business Unit as a GU/Gyn Tumor Director Global Publications. In this role, you will have direct accountability and responsibility for the global leadership and line management of a team of Global Publication Leads across multiple sites. You will provide publications expertise and insight into the development and optimization of integrated strategic global publication plans, driving scientifically rigorous and compliant publications across the product lifecycle. The role collaborates with the Global Head of Publications, VP OBU Medical, Clinical TA VPs, Global Medical Affairs Leaders (GMALs), and the regions to ensure aligned global publications strategies and plans are developed and delivered in a globally consistent way, aligned to the integrated Medical Affairs Plans. The Tumor Director manages the Global Publication Leads to lead their teams in an aligned manner, assuring consistent delivery across the portfolio.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the disease area teams of Global Publications Leads responsible for working within GU and gyn tumor areas to align and build a integrated publication strategies and plans for global clinical studies and non-clinical trial sources including HEOR, Epidemiology, RWE, and Payer, so that the integrated publication strategy is consistently applied across all study designs, and clear and supportable scientific data are communicated to internal partners (product teams, governance bodies) and external customers (regulatory authorities, payers, physicians and patients)
  • Directly manage Global Publications Leads on GU/Gyn focused products
  • Work alongside the Global Head of Publications and Senior Directors supporting global performance management, recruitment, training, and coaching of the OBU Publications team
  • Coach GU/Gyn team on principles of integrated strategic publication planning
  • Provide leadership and influence any ongoing strategic development within the business that may impact AZ's ability to deliver industry-leading publications activities in an ethical way
  • Build advocacy for publications through effective relationships with key partners and customers across all relevant SET areas
  • Provide visible leadership to key alliance partners to support the success of strategic alliances
  • Keep up to date with any internal or external developments (e.g. new regulatory and publication guidelines worldwide) that potentially impact on Publications; disseminate information and develop strategies for meeting new requirements


Essential Skills/Experience
  • Bachelors degree with relevant proven experience in pharmaceutical/medical communication/healthcare industry required
  • 3 yrs demonstrated experience as a medical publication professional and in depth knowledge of the principles of developing effective publication strategies and plans. * will consider 5+ years in medical communications agency; or advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (eg PharmD, PhD, MD)
  • Demonstrated performance, budget and resource management skills in a global organization
  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process, with a focus on integrated strategic publication planning
  • Broad knowledge of oncology therapy area
  • Demonstrated line leadership skills


Desirable Skills/Experience
  • PhD or advanced post-graduate scientific degree preferred;
  • Experience in Oncology, Gyn and/or GU therapy areas
  • Ability to /interest in representing AZ in relevant professional bodies and conferences as an advocate for compliance and publication practice
  • ISMPP CMPPTM certified

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $185,412.80 - $278,119.20. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
