Description

Are you a curious and driven Statistician? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Statistician to join our Data Sciences & Quantitative Biology department at AstraZeneca in Waltham, Massachusetts. As part of the Discovery Sciences function, we apply deep technical expertise in specialized technologies to support the delivery of drug targets and molecules to AstraZeneca's early pipeline.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be a pivotal member of our organization, leveraging your statistical expertise to advance drug discovery projects across diverse collaborative teams. You will design, analyze, and interpret results from preclinical studies across a broad spectrum of therapeutic and discovery science areas. You will also develop statistical tools and methods to tackle emerging challenges and expedite decision-making in preclinical R&D.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Ph.D. (with 0~3 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry) or equivalent in statistics, or biostatistics major
  • Experience in data analysis and familiarity with areas such as experimental design, linear/nonlinear modeling, power analysis, data visualization, and machine learning
  • The ability to communicate complex statistical methods to scientists with varying levels of statistical knowledge.
  • A genuine dedication to driving innovation to advance preclinical science
  • Proficiency in program/tool/workflow development using R/Markdown/Shiny, or Python
  • Knowledge of omics data analysis is desirable.
  • Strong collaborative teamwork and interpersonal skills that demonstrate initiative and motivation.


Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Design, analyze, and interpret results from preclinical studies across a broad spectrum of therapeutic and discovery science areas.
  • Develop statistical tools and methods to tackle emerging challenges and expedite decision-making in preclinical R&D.
  • Create and deliver statistical training sessions for internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with collaborators through publications and presentations.
