WHAT YOU’LL DO As Director, Technology – Client Applications you will manage the overall design, planning and implementation of market and custom applications and solutions. Developed applications will be used by internal and external users during delivery of TNTP’s products and services. Reporting to the Partner, Enterprise Systems, you will influence and incubate the development of a formal product strategy by partnering with business leaders across the organization. Your leadership over the newly created Client Applications team within Technology will position you as a trusted business partner between technical leaders (e.g., developers, engineers and system administrators) and business stakeholders (e.g., product managers). Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Director, Technology – Client Applications includes:
- Lead evaluation, design, development and analysis of individual product solutions to build a portfolio of applications that improve client’s experiences with TNTP’s products and services.
- Provide direct management to members of the Client Applications team and define the team’s operating and support model, managing vendors as needed, and developing a culture of innovation.
- Influence product strategy and culture by establishing product-centric principles and practices in a traditionally service-focused organization.
- Act as an internal consultant to translate current state products and ideas into business and technical requirements to be formally developed to meet specific business outcomes.
- Partner with the Director, Technology - Enterprise Architecture to monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify opportunities to keep applications aligned to desired business capabilities.
- Define solution principles and standards to ensure development decisions position applications for scalability and sustainability.
- Manage the portfolio of various enterprise platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, TeachBoost) utilized across the organization for client work.
- Develop training and documentation on individual solutions to support product team ownership.
WHAT YOU HAVE Qualifications and Experiences We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise:
- Three to five years of experience in application development, product management, and/or Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Strong understanding of agile principles and software development life cycle methodologies with the capability of supporting agile teams.
- Knowledge of diverse technologies, platforms and environments, particularly low-code application builders. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform preferred.
- Working knowledge of coding languages (JavaScript, Java, Ruby, Python, C#, etc.). Ability to code not required, but a plus.
- Experience leading and/or working within governance models, translating business models into an actionable roadmap.
- Data savvy with knowledge of various aspects of a technology architecture like integration, data modeling and security.
- Proven ability to manage vendors and external developers for outsourced needs.
- Strong decision-making that demonstrates experience in balancing the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions and organizational goals.
- Ability to influence, communicate well, facilitate discussion, resolve problems, and articulate the needs and desires of a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
