SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Shunpike seeks a multi-channel Communications & Marketing Specialist who’s enthusiastic about crafting campaigns that connect with our regional arts community and supporters. The Communications & Marketing Specialist should thrive as a project lead, managing multiple communications priorities simultaneously. The person in this role should be an ambassador for Shunpike’s brand and maintain high standards for the organization’s public communications and marketing strategies. Our ideal communications team member works well independently but is eager to collaborate with our small, vibrant team across several programs, as well as with external partners. They bring new ideas to the table validated by thoughtful strategy, reportable data, and effective messaging outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Communications & Development, this position will develop, implement, and track all communications promoting Shunpike’s services, signature programs, and fundraising initiatives. The major areas of responsibility include Graphic Design, Web Property Upkeep, Social Media, Content Management, Email Marketing, and Public Outreach & Event Promotion.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Create visually compelling assets for digital and print platforms, including social media graphics, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and event materials, ensuring alignment with multiple brand guidelines and standards (logo use, typeface, color, etc).
Develop and maintain templates and design systems to uphold a cohesive brand identity across all communications.
Manage and organize a photo database, ensuring efficient sourcing and proper usage rights tracking while maintaining a library of digital design assets.
Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards, including color contrast, font size, and compatibility with assistive technologies.
Utilize design software like Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

WEB PROPERTY UPKEEP

Routinely update key pages on Shunpike’s WordPress website, including but not limited to client database, program pages, career page, and homepage heroes.
Ensure the website is audited for SEO, user-optimization, and brand alignment.
Maintain Linktree page for use on social media channels.
Track and routinely report on website performance and user activity using Google Analytics.
Create virtual event registration and landing pages using tools like Zoom and Eventbrite.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Consistently publish engaging content that promotes Shunpike programs and fundraising campaigns – including high-res photos, branded graphics, and video clips – on the official Shunpike social media profiles, with an emphasis on Linkedin, Facebook, and Instagram.
Design, write, and create content for boosted social posts and digital advertisements.
Track performance and identify trends across social properties monthly.

CONTENT MANAGEMENT

Manage the production of digital content deliverables for both evergreen and seasonal marketing campaigns.
Maintain a cohesive, brand-aligned identity (profile pictures, header images, etc.) across all of Shunpike’s social media properties and marketing channels, updating with campaign-specific graphics when appropriate.
Design and execute digital & print marketing assets for use across all marketing channels.

EMAIL MARKETING

Write, design, and distribute 2-5 eNewsletters per month using Mailchimp.
Track changes and trends in Shunpike’s subscriber base and routinely extract insights to inform email marketing growth and engagement strategy.
Manage email marketing database, including integration with information from Salesforce.
Track performance and identify trends across email campaigns on a monthly basis.

PUBLIC OUTREACH & EVENT PROMOTION

Collaborate with Programs, Development, and Fiscal Sponsorship teams to coordinate marketing and creative services for multiple annual fundraisers and public events, both virtual and hybrid.
Maintain an up-to-date email list of relevant local and national press and media outlets.
Distribute digital press releases to engage publications around Shunpike’s news and partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

College-level degree with a concentration in marketing, communications, public relations, or a directly related field, or the education and work experience equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of communications, marketing, or brand management experience.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply.
Ability to work in an open and collaborative work environment, both remotely and onsite.
Persistent follow-through and resolution of problems.
Adaptable and composed when faced with changing needs and priorities.
Proficiency with graphic design software, Canva Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere). Experience with short-form video editing is a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively and fluently using various applications such as Slack, Zoom, and email to facilitate remote/hybrid workplace communication.

Preferred:

Previous graphic design portfolio, specifically for digital ad graphics, email design, and social media content.
SEO, website optimization, and Google Analytics experience.
Experienced content capture for social media campaigns.
Copywriting experience.

Employment Status:

Full time (40 hrs/week), Exempt. Standard Shunpike hours are 10 am – 6 pm, with requests for flexible hours and comp time considered. Some weekend and evening work is required. This is a Hybrid Remote position with flexible in-office presence required in our Seattle office.

Remuneration:

$64,000-70,000 per annum DOE; ORCA Card (alt. WFH stipend); Health benefits including vision and dental; Generous 401k retirement plan; 18 vacation days, sick time, and 9 paid holidays.
