Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) has been serving northwestern Vermont for over 35 years. However, the potential for community support remains largely untapped.

We are seeking a Director of Operations who can provide leadership in three interrelated sectors of GMHFH: Construction, Restores, and Volunteer Management. They will work out of our Williston, VT office, with regular local travel required to visit our job sites and ReStores.

The Director of Operations will work with the CEO and will be a key member of the Leadership team for the organization and is accountable for the strategic operational direction as it relates to Construction, Restore, and Volunteers.

FLSA Status: Full-time Salary, Exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week, flexible. Some nights and weekends are required.
Reports to: CEO
Supervises: Construction, ReStore, and Volunteer staff

Responsibilities:
Overall:
Strategic Collaboration:
Foster strong relationships with leaders across departments to ensure cohesive alignment with the company's objectives and seamless coordination across all project phases.
Maintain an understanding of individual team members strengths and weaknesses, and through training, mentorship, and active leadership work to enhance the capabilities of the team.
Business Strategy & Growth: Create and execute strategies to drive business expansion, with a particular emphasis on multi-family developments, and Restore growth.

Client Relations & Business Development:
Actively identify and pursue new projects, partnerships, and markets, for the Restores, and Construction.
Financial Oversight & Cost Control: Track project financial performance closely, implementing cost-saving measures to adhere to the budget across Construction & Restore Departments.
Lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and presentations.
Other duties as assigned.

Construction:
Supervise Real Estate Development Manager and Construction Manager.
This role involves end-to-end oversight, from strategic planning and budgeting to successful project completion.
The Director will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time, on-budget completion with exceptional quality standards.

Formulate detailed budget plans, monitoring expenditure for all project-related costs, including property acquisition, infrastructure development, and construction, in collaboration with the CEO.
The position requires a leader who can inspire high performance in project managers, superintendents, and field teams, while closely aligning project activities with strategic business goals.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead the construction team with a focus on achieving goals and deadlines across multiple projects.
Collaborate with Development & Finance to ensure Grant obligations are fully executed.
Talent Acquisition & Strategic Hiring: Lead the recruitment process and make strategic hiring decisions to expand and strengthen the construction team.
Collaborate with Director of Finance and HR on project accounting functions, including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing risk on the projects.
Ensure that construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule.
Provide overall leadership to ensure work is constructed in compliance with energy standards and work quality is in line with GMHFH construction policy.

Restores:
Supervise the Restore Director
Works with the ReStore Director to achieve annual sales and profitability targets by encouraging efficiency of operations and new program development to support sales at aggressive targets in conjunction with the organization's strategic plan.
Work with the Restore Director to develop and ensure the implementation of a strategic plan for Restore growth.
Work with the Restore Director and HR to ensure the successful implementation of Operational and staff policies and procedures. Ensuring that staff are professionally trained and supported.
Oversee successful ReStore marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Development and Communications Manager and the marketing staff (print, social media, ReStore website related pages)

Volunteer Engagement:
Supervise Volunteer Manager
Oversee the Volunteer Engagement Department to creatively recruit and engage community volunteers throughout the organization. Work with the department to create training programs to upgrade the skill levels of volunteers and retention strategies that encourage volunteers to return more frequently. Work to maximize the deployment of volunteers across programs for greatest efficiency and flexibility.
Work in partnership with the Volunteer Manager to maximize tracking of volunteer hours, and interpret data collected surrounding volunteers, and how we are utilizing them

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree in business or Non-Profit Management preferred.
Minimum 10 years of senior management experience. Experience with Habitat for Humanity helpful.
Strong communication (oral/written) and listening skills.
Strategic vision with ability to manage tactically.
Self-starter with ability to work both independently and with staff and volunteers.
Strong knowledge of technology with the ability to leverage it to improve operations and communication.
Process mapping and change management experience highly desired.
Strong leadership skills with ability to develop staff and volunteers.

Compensation & Benefits
This position has a starting salary of $95,000-$105,000 yearly, based on skills and experience. Benefits include a health reimbursement plan, 5 weeks combined vacation and sick time, ten paid holidays, and a 20% staff discount at the Habitat Restore.
