The position of the Lead Technology Specialist (Lead Chemical Engineer) role in the Technology Services Department is a challenging role, which involves providing technical service to our licensed and non-licensed technology customers for Hydroprocessing & Renewables Technologies (Naphtha/Distillates/VGO/Pygas Hydrotreating, VGO/Distillates Hydrocracking, Gasoline Desulfurization, Ecofining and Renewable Jet among others).

Ensuring customer satisfaction with Honeywell UOP processes and products, understanding customers' needs, fostering and maintaining strong customer relationships, and looking for opportunities for further Honeywell UOP business are the main aspects of the role.

The role suits a strong problem solver, able to manage his/her own time and efforts, a keen learner, someone comfortable working both independently and with cross-departmental teams and having good communication skills.

The position will include regular interaction with Honeywell UOP's external customers within the region and with Honeywell UOP personnel worldwide and candidates must be able to handle in-depth technical discussions with peers and external customers.

The Lead Technology Specialist will work closely with the Service Managers and peer Technology Specialists worldwide to provide expertise to our customers.

The Position will report to the Senior Manager, Technology Services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Becoming an expert and recognized trusted advisor by internal and external customers for Hydroprocessing & Renewables technologies.
  • Ensuring health and safety on a daily job through the execution of routine safety training.
  • Evaluating commercial operations, through remote monitoring or on-site troubleshooting, to assist customers in achieving their goals and effectively communicating Honeywell UOP recommendations, requirements, and benefits.
  • Providing technical support for new unit start-ups and turnaround support on catalyst changeout and regenerations of Honeywell UOP licensed units.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities to unit's designs based on own judgment and commercial experience from support to customers unit's start-ups.
  • Providing Field support as part of the Field Service Reserve (FSR) when necessary for customers start-up, restart, or troubleshooting either as the main Technical Advisor or as a training opportunity.
  • Participating in Engineering review meetings for new units and revamps including Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, HAZOP,
  • Model Reviews, and other activities.
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Developing and presenting training materials for Honeywell UOP technology training courses.
  • Developing and updating general operating and process technology manuals.
  • Leading and/or participating in Technical committees such as technologies Communities of Practice (CoP), Technical Committee Organization (TCO), Peer Reviews, and Technical Group Meetings. Creating and providing internal presentations in these Forums.
  • Championing changes and improvements in technologies supported via innovation.
  • Participating in New Product Introduction (NPI) development projects with R&D as well as commercialization and validation of commercial data vs pilot plant scale data.
  • Supporting Honeywell UOP Breakthrough Initiatives (BTI).
  • Participating in internal and external Industry Forums and Conferences.
  • Creating and publishing industrial magazine articles/white papers/magazine Q&As.
  • Championing internal infrastructure projects to improve productivity and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting the software industrial revolution and IIoT by providing input and support to the Connected Services initiatives.
  • Supporting the development of yield estimates, assisting in preparation of Technical Proposals, and participating in customer and internal meetings to support catalyst reload or revamp opportunities.
  • Supporting the Sales organizations through customer intel of their operations, objectives, and limitations to execute catalyst, equipment, service, training, and engineering projects in the yearly Sales Pipeline.
  • Ensuring Customer Care Excellence (CCE) by providing best-in-class service to our customers through delivering urgent support and precise guidelines to improve their safety, reliability, and operations. Ensuring proper capture of knowledge and customer interactions as part of CCE through the Salesforce.com (SFDC) platform.
  • Bringing potential business opportunities from interactions and relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Championing new ideas to achieve Honeywell UOP's Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Strategic Plan (STRAP), and business goals.
  • Leading Resolution projects if and when they arise.
The annual base salary for this position is $120,000 - $173,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Broad refinery experience, either with Honeywell UOP or Refiner, providing a good all-around knowledge of refining technologies, their equipment, and operations.
  • Experience with Hydroprocessing & Renewables technologies in a technical support or operations role.
  • Ability to conduct physical inspections requiring physical climbing and crawling through & walking on pressure vessels, distillation columns, tanks, and piping is required.
  • The position requires significant travel (25%) and associated personal flexibility. Some trips can be planned in advance, but the ability to travel at short notice is a requirement.

The annual base salary range for this position is in Illinois (excluding most major metropolitan areas) is $120,000-$150,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
