Duties

The selectee will serve as a Maintenance Supervisor. In this position, you will serve as Branch Chief of the Utilities Branch within the Public Works Division of the Facilities Engineering Department (FED).

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignment include:
  • Establishing guidelines and performance and expectations; Observing workers performance; demonstrating and conducting work performance critiques; resolving informal complaints and grievances.
  • Developing work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary.
  • Providing advice and counseling to workers in administrative matters, job performance, and task completion.
  • Receiving work orders for both corrective maintenance (CM) and preventive maintenance (PM), reviewing the request to ensure the work can be accomplished, and assigning the work to the appropriate subordinate for accomplishing the work assignment.

    Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
    • Ability to Lead or Supervise (Screen-out Element)
    • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
    • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
    • Use of Measuring Instruments
    • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc (includes blueprinting reading)
    • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
    • Knowledge of Materials

    This is a supervisory position, under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
