General Purpose and Scope of Position:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Supervisor will assist in the planning, coordinating, and directing day-to-day production operations, including manufacturing, raw material receiving, and product loading. This position will support the Plant Manager in achieving the site's safety, quality, and production goals.
Key Skills and Abilities Include:
- High School Diploma required, post-secondary education in a related field preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of front-line supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Aquaculture feed manufacturing is preferred
- Computer proficiency required, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklift, JCB, etc.)

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
- Daily supervision of all facility operations personnel, including planning and scheduling of work for all operators, assigning work tasks, and managing employee attendance, punctuality, breaks/meal periods, vacation, and overtime
- Providing daily leadership through example, focusing on timely communication, objective feedback, clear work instructions, and coaching for continuous improvement
- Coordinating manpower with the production schedule to ensure that training goals, including safety training and manufacturing cross-training, are met
- Ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing adherence to company policies & procedures and leading by example
- Performing daily workplace inspections, ensuring health & safety practices and procedures are being followed, and that equipment and PPE are being used and in good condition, following up on actions from inspections and audits
- Implementing a housekeeping/sanitation plan for the plant, including documentation and checklists for completion and accountability
- Working with the quality department to ensure that all quality goals are being met and assisting in troubleshooting and resolving customer manufacturing complaints
- Ensuring that proper methods and procedures are being used and that quality and production records are maintained according to company policies
- Consulting in production schedule development and is responsible for safely meeting plant production targets, coordinating operator manpower accordingly
- Observing and documenting process performance issues, assisting in the development of SOPs to optimize performance, and implementing changes
- Coordinating with the plant maintenance to ensure that all maintenance is performed safely and promptly, ensuring that permitting and lock-out/tag-out policies are strictly followed
- Managing raw material and finished goods inventories, coordinating with dispatch, Inventory Clerk, and the Plant Manager to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, production supplies, etc.
- Train on various processes to function as backup vacation coverage or to assist in providing training in the future
- General knowledge of quality requirements, understand and be able to run quality tests
- Running inventory reconciliations as needed
- Tracking inbound railcars/empties and raw material cars
Compensation and Benefits:
- In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $67,700 - $90,240. Wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for many benefits, such as vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
