The role of the Auditor is to assist and support the Director, Internal Auditing in fulfillment of all internal audit related job-related responsibilities including but not necessarily limited to ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of the internal control systems and processes. The Auditor will adopt and implement systematic and disciplined audit approaches to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organization's risk management, controls, and operations. The Auditor will have the opportunity to build and develop expertise in various areas, departments and activities within the organization. The wide variety of audit subjects gives the Auditor a unique opportunity to develop detailed knowledge of the diverse activities of the organization. Responsibilities ● Prepare or contribute to the preparation of the audit engagement work plans, to include an assessment of risk and fraud of the audit programs.● Conduct discussions of preliminary nature with heads of operations under audit.● Obtain required information directly or indirectly through an examination of records or interviews with staff.● For the processes audited, review and evaluate the system of management controls and assess their adequacy and effectiveness and, where appropriate, draft potential recommendations for improvements.● Prepare working papers and formal reports documenting succinctly yet completely the work performed during the audit engagement.● Draft segments of the audit reports and communications on the results of work performed, for review by the Senior Auditor. Qualifications Required Experience: ● A minimum of at least 2 years' Affordable Housing industry experience or related audit experience is required. Required Education/Training: ● One or more industry-related certifications (COS, FHS, TCS, TCSA, HOME, USDA-RD etc.) required. Additional certifications may be required following start of employment.● High School diploma required (or equivalent GED)● Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology or the equivalent combination of Education, Training, and Work Experience are highly desirable Required Skills and Abilities: ● Must possess an acceptable driving record and the ability to provide own transportation when needed● Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.● Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with officials at all levels of management.● Ability to work independently; commitment to continuous learning and willingness to keep up to date on new developments in the audit field.● Ability to observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately● Proactive in researching business best practice concepts in order to apply as appropriate● Solid listening skills and ability to identify gaps in logic - inquisitive● Strong organization and follow up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments● Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change● Ability to be proactive in asking clarifying questions to ensure work effort is directed wholly toward desired outcome● Good communication skills along with good or developing negotiation skills● Ability to identify sensitive issues and facilitate communications in a proactive manner to avoid surprises● Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challengesExecutes effective and thorough application of all internal audit standards within assigned responsibility● Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitudeWorking Conditions: Primarily an office environment, however at site audits may be required to inspect premises, files and other work areas. Will be required to perform occasional overnight travel on a national basis, and may be required to work on evenings and weekends when required, especially during travel. Salary Range Information: The range displayed on each job posting reflects the targeted base salary for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
