Local hire employees are typically local residents who aid in the recovery of their community and help their fellow citizens in the recovery process. A local hire\u0027s term of employment is 120 days. Local Hire appointments may be extended, in 120-day increments, based on the needs of the disaster.\u003C/p\u003E

\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat will I do in this position if hired? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this Local Hire (Emergency Management Specialist 4) position, you will serve as a member of the disaster recovery staff in aiding individuals or communities impacted by disasters.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003ETypical assignments include:\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAssisting in preparing field office emergency management plans and policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure essential functions are executed, and are consistent with statutory and agency requirements.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EFacilitating on-going communications with internal operations staff and corresponding operational staff of other Federal agencies.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforming on-site damage assessments in order to assist in the development plans that ensure the capability to continue essential functions.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAnalyzing inspection reports, final vouchers, and Federal and/or State audit reports on public assistance programs, and preparing recommendations for required follow-up actions.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWriting technical materials, including reports of research findings, technical reports, and specifications.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat else do I need to know? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EThis announcement is for a position as a FEMA Local Hire. \u003C/strong\u003ELocal Hire employees help FEMA respond to, recover from and mitigate hazards by performing a variety of emergency management functions which are not limited to disaster survivor assistance, conducting and verifying damage assessments, and providing administrative, financial and logistical support.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ELocal Hires are Temporary Positions. \u003C/strong\u003EThe Local Hire Program is an appointment type granted under the Robert T.
