The Berger lab is seeking a bright and motivated Research Technician II. The individual will perform experiments directed at understanding mechanisms of lung tumor development and identifying strategies for lung cancer therapy, as well as perform lab managerial duties such as inventory maintenance and training of new laboratory personnel. This is a fantastic opportunity for a scientist interested in making a difference in cancer medicine while developing and exercising skills in laboratory management.

The Research Technician II will be responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
  • Interpret and report on experimental results.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
  • May supervise work-study students.
  • Identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
  • Prepare and present written or oral progress reports concerning studies including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data.
  • Assist in the design of experiments; may be responsible for the performance of individual research projects.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
  • Assist in publication of results by proofreading, editing, and contributing ideas.
  • May perform statistical analyses, write computer programs, or manage research data base.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Wet lab experience generating single cell RNA-sequencing libraries using the 10X platform
  • Dry lab experience analyzing single cell RNA-sequencing libraries using CellRanger or Seurat software
  • Wet lab experience generating CUT&RUN or Chip-seq sequencing libraries

The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
