Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem-Mortuary Technician.

The Per Diem Morgue Technician will be responsible for performing NYU hospital and referred autopsies as indicated by the designated pathologist at the OCME office.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform autopsies as indicated by the designated pathologist including but not limited to moving the body, assisting with photography, eviscerating organs, using the saw to remove the brain and spinal cord, sewing the body and scalp in preparation for release to funeral home
  • Clean and disinfect the body autopsy suite and tools
  • Leave the autopsy room clean and tidy after the case is complete
  • Perform morgue census
  • Operate and assist with morgue scissor lifts, assist with inventory, oversee daily or weekly regulatory charts
  • Assist pathologists house staff management and technicians with requests/projects as directed

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma
  • 1 years experience performing autopsies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70.00 - $70.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
