Description

The Specialist of Volunteer Services is a member of the volunteer-focused work within Habitat for Humanity International's U.S. expertise hubs. This position will provide support for the creation of tools, templates, trainings and resources to enhance volunteer practices at affiliate organizations, and will assist in implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and improving HFHI volunteer services to its affiliated network (e.g. RV Caravanners, Disaster Corps, etc.). Priority focus will begin with HFHI's Disaster Corps service program, implementing a service program transition strategy, developing and leading volunteer trainings, collaborating across HFHI and affiliate stakeholders, and leading rollout and scaling efforts.

Additionally the Specialist, Volunteer Services will be the primary lead for HFHI's volunteer management system (VMS) in efforts to systemize and better coordinate services HFHI provides to its affiliated network. In particular, the role will create and improve relevant use of system, track registrations, address technical concerns, ensure quality system administration and customer service, and serve as SME on any future program integrations into the VMS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Volunteer Service Support (40%)
• Implement disaster volunteer services strategy, including program transition, developments, rollout and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with U.S. Disaster Services team to coordinate plans for response and readiness efforts.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of volunteer and affiliate resources - checklists, toolkits, templates, technical guides, and standard operating procedures as needed
• Drive the co-creation of training materials, alongside U.S. Disaster Services, across key disaster preparedness, resilience, and recovery areas.
• Provide ongoing training and support to skilled volunteers in areas of program management, strategic planning, and preparedness.
• Collaborate with director and other contributors to determine measurements of success
• Lead pilot project to disaster-affected affiliates
• Lead national rollout and scaling of the revised disaster volunteer service offering.

Technical Integration, Systems Coordination, and Site Deployment Support (35%)
• Support technical integration of Rosterfy across various skilled volunteer service programs within the expertise hub, and maintain precise records, information, and data within the VMS
• Collaborate with IT and relevant departments for smooth data flow and efficient utilization of volunteer management tools
• Coordinate and monitor operational functions (registration, deployment, coordination, training requirements, etc.) of key volunteer programs in the VMS (e.g. Disaster Corps and RV Care-A-Vanners)
• Serve as VMS SME and support future program integration efforts as needed.

Service Efficiency, Standardization, and Project Management (25%)
• Standardize processes in line with HFHI's strategic direction, emphasizing consistency and quality in volunteer initiatives.
• Coordinate closely with the U.S. Office to leverage skilled volunteer resources effectively and ensure a consistent volunteer experience throughout HFHI.
• Work on strategic projects aimed at improving and developing new products, services, and processes related to volunteer program management.
• Provide support to VEH team's products and services, creating/validating/measuring tools, templates, trainings and resources to enhance volunteer practices at affiliate organizations.

Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor's degree
• Years of Related Experience: 2-3 years

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Experience utilizing volunteer management systems
• Experience communicating to and engaging volunteers
• Excellent verbal & written communication; ability to adapt communication style and approach for diverse audiences
• Proven ability to deliver tangible impact while handling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and exhibit efficient time management and exceptional organizational skills
• Experience quickly collecting data and information from internal and external sources, synthesize and summarize for diverse stakeholders
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and a general comfort level working with technology systems (SharePoint, Smartsheet, online meeting software, webpage design, Rosterfy, etc.)
• Outstanding ability to work with others and cultivate relationships and engagement; high emotional intelligence

Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
• Experience working in a federated organization
• Experience working or volunteering with Habitat for Humanity
• Experience with volunteering, personally or professionally
• Disaster relief / disaster volunteerism experience

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $46,670 to $54,900.
