SUMMARY: The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects. BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind. Business and Corporate Development plays a critical role in the strategic growth of BioMarin by leading corporate strategy initiatives and executing to various types of transactions (e.g., licensing, M&A, partnership efforts) to shape our pipeline. BioMarin is seeking a self-starter and results-oriented individual who is looking to gain hands-on, real-world experience as part of the Business Development (BD) team. We are looking for someone with both a strong fit with BioMarin's mission and culture along with the necessary research and analytical skills. The intern will work closely with a senior member of BMRN's BD team to define the therapeutic landscape for one or more indications, identify and assess key assets within the space that align with BioMarin's strategy, and drive to a recommendation on the attractiveness of each opportunity for BMRN. A successful candidate has the ability to engage both with deep scientific thinking and the business needs that drive our organization and should be curious and driven to answer questions thoroughly.
