Summary The position serves as the Disaster Financial Management Specialist with primary responsibility for financial programs and systems within region six. Duties \u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat will I do in this position if hired?\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this Financial Management Specialist position, you will develop and maintain disaster spend plans for field activities and for disasters that have returned to the region for financial control.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003ETypical assignments include:\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPreparing pre-disaster allocations for travel, Mission Assignments, Salaries and Benefits, etc.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EActing as point of contact between JFO funds control personnel and the region.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDesigning, implementing, maintaining, and improving database driven tools.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforming data analysis on source data to determine possible issues.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EUtilizing database languages such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Procedural Language (PL)/SQL to conduct quantitative and qualitative research.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDeveloping standard operating procedures for disaster file maintenance; file review, de-obligating un-liquidated disaster obligations, closeouts of all disaster files, including contracts, travel, and invoices.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforming a wide variety of financial disaster transactions on a daily basis, including allocations, obligations, accounts payable, audit of travel payments, reconciliations, problem solving and the like, using the agency\u0027s financial management systems and interfacing systems.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat else do I need to know? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAt FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. \u003C/strong\u003EEvery FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
