Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator.

The Research Coordinator will work with Dr. Lu Hu (Principal Investigator- PI) at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM) on several research projects related to diabetes management and prevention among underserved populations. The Research Coordinator will assist the PI in ensuring the accurate execution of the study protocol in accordance with IRB and sponsor regulations. The research coordinator will obtain informed consent and administer aspects of the study protocol to study participants. She/he/they will transfer data from study subjects, standardized patients, and other forms to a format suitable for analysis by the data scientist. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for setting up, distributing, and tracking participant incentives disbursement. She/he/they will interface directly with participants to provide education about the study and obtain informed consent and provide updates about the study's progress and any issues that arise. She/he/they will also be responsible for study-related administrative duties, including procuring supplies, scheduling meetings, and maintaining equipment. She/he/they will also conduct qualitative analysis of both audio and video recordings.

Job Responsibilities:
    1. Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Core Values and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
    2. Human Subjects' Research - Assists in the submission and maintenance of necessary documents required by the NYUGSOM Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure study meets all regulatory requirements to conduct human subject's research. Secures signatures, forwards documents and/or forms to appropriate teams. Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Responsible Conduct of Research. Monitors any outward effects or issues regarding participant safety and report this to the appropriate party and PI. Oversees enrollment statistics and provides other information in timely manner to the PI, as necessary.
    3. Project Coordination - Provides moderate to advanced coordination of study activities that includes but not limited to: Coordinating with participants, study team, community and clinical partners; Administering surveys to participants and participant incentives; Tracking and maintaining documentation of participant payments/incentives; Assisting with the informed consent process and ensures that participants fully understand what is required of them throughout the study; and following through regularly with participants, reminding them of participation dates and answering all questions.
    4. Data Management - Process quantitative data and transfer data into study database and analyzable formats for data scientist (e.g. Excel). Conduct qualitative data analysis and prepare reports to share with study staff.
    5. Recruitment - Screens and enrolls potential participants across NYULH and partner institutions across New York City. Will assist in recruiting eligible participants through connections made by program leadership, participant referrals, and announcement at existing didactic sessions (e.g. noon conference for medicine residents). Obtains informed consent from participants.
    6. Reporting and Analysis - Prepares brief reports to share preliminary findings. Provides updates on study progress to the study team including Principal Investigator. Assist in the writing of research manuscripts and other scholarly products
    7. Decision Making and Problem Solving - Combines and evaluates information and data to make decisions about relative importance of information and choosing the best solution to solve problems. Works to resolve issues and questions, escalates unresolve and complex matters to supervisor and/or PI.
    8. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field.
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting.
Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.
Ability to operate research related equipment
Ability to work and make decisions independently.
Time management skills and ability to multitask.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems: Ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in research coordination and project management

2. Experience working on a health equity, medical education, and/or health services research

3. Experience in conducting literature searches

4. Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 - $65,520.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
