Summary This position is being announced under FEMA\u0027s Incident Management Assistant Team (IMAT) Program. This is a 4-year temporary appointment in the Excepted service. This position is located on a Type I, Regional IMAT and has a starting salary range of $61.67 per hour to $70.92 per hour; however, the maximum salary possible in this position is $80.18 per hour. Salary listed includes locality pay. Duties \u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat will I do in this position if hired? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist (External Support Branch Director Type II) as part of a 13-personnel IMAT for Region Nine, Response Division.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cb\u003E\u003Ci\u003EWhen deployed,\u003C/i\u003E\u003C/b\u003E the incumbent provides logistical support to a variety of missions to include responder support camps, mass care and temporary housing operations, staging area operations, and other external facility coordination efforts. Specifically, the individual performs the following duties:\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EOversees staging area unit functions;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDetermines initial staging requirements to support the incident objectives in coordination with section chiefs, branch directors, and State partners;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWorks with the Operations Section to project the State\u0027s requirements and adjust accordingly;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EProvides required logistics support to Mass Care functions (Emergency Assistance, Housing, and Human Services), and voluntary agencies;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDetermines support camp requirements and assesses responder support camp strategies to support the incident objectives in coordination with section chiefs, branch directors, and the Logistics Management Center (LMC) at the National Response Coordination Center;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EOversees Temporary Housing Unit function and determines initial temporary housing staging requirements to support the housing plan;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECollects, analyzes, and applies situational information to develop and coordinate branch demobilization; and\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECoordinates with partners regarding the disposition of incident response resources, furniture, fixtures, and responder camps.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cb\u003E\u003Ci\u003EWhen not deployed,\u003C/i\u003E\u003C/b\u003E typical responsibilities include:\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EParticipating in exercises at the national, regional and state levels; all training as required by the position with states and other federal agencies, professional development as required for team member development and FEMA Qualification System (FQS) certification, and emergency management training and workshops; development of regional catastrophic planning for all-hazard responses\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EProviding input for the development of and participates in the execution and documentation of functions and plans that affect critical aspects of FEMA\u0027s mission, operational responses and programs; basic instruction on disaster-related topics to regions, state and local authorities;\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAssisting in the development of plans, goals, and objectives for new initiatives and programs\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEvaluating and providing recommendations for improving effectiveness of existing programs and activities.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat else do I need to know? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAt FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. \u003C/strong\u003EEvery FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. Appointments to IMAT CORE positions are four years in duration and may be renewed based upon workload needs and funding availability.
