Summary \u003Cp\u003EIn this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Emergency Services Division, Police Branch. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, DC. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience maintaining law and order, protecting life, property, and civil rights of individuals, and national security information.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E \u003C/p\u003E Duties \u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAll MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place. You will have full authority to carry firearms and make arrests in order to detect and investigate a wide range of incidents in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. Typical assignments include:\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEnforcing federal laws and regulations for the protection of life and property while carrying firearms.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMaking arrests without a warrant for any offense, patrolling the facility grounds and structures to prevent and detect theft, damage, or unauthorized entry, monitoring alarm systems, closed circuit television systems, and telephone and radio networks, regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic, receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of breaches of the peace, violations, complaints, emergencies, accidents, and/or injuries, taking statements from persons involved and follows up on information obtained.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EServing warrants and subpoenas issued under the authority of the United States, conducting investigations, on and off the MWEOC, of offenses that may have been committed against property owned or occupied by the federal government or persons on the property.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPreparing incident reports and other appropriate documentation relevant to breaches of the peace, acts of violence, theft of federal or personal property, and other violations committed on federally owned or controlled property at the MWEOC and assisting federal, state, or local law enforcement officials in follow-up investigation.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EConducting long and short-term investigations, completing investigations of all crimes (both felony and misdemeanor, investigating complaints, leads/tips, develops leads, obtains physical evidence, seeking out witnesses for questions, takes testimony, preparing reports, making recommendations and preparing cases for prosecution.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat else do I need to know? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAt FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. \u003C/strong\u003EEvery FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
