Innovate to solve the world's most important challenges Sr Automation Engineer As the Sr Automation Engineer, you will be a pivotal figure at the intersection of IT and Engineering within our manufacturing operations. Your role will involve leveraging your expertise in software programming, electronics, networking, and IT administration to develop and optimize systems that enhance factory performance. You will coordinate new system development with global engineering resources, maintain comprehensive documentation, manage IT assets in alignment with corporate standards, troubleshoot critical equipment problems, and plan and execute tech debt remediation projects to update obsolete manufacturing systems. Your efforts will directly contribute to improved manufacturing efficiency and system reliability. You will work out of our Columbus, OH location with up to 20% travel possible. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES System Development Coordination Collaborate with global engineering teams to align new system developments with the factory's OT strategy. Facilitate the integration of new technologies and processes into existing systems. Documentation and Source Code Management Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of systems, processes, and code repositories. Ensure version control and source code integrity through proper documentation practices. IT Asset Management Oversee the management of factory IT assets, ensuring they adhere to corporate standards and best practices. Run the factory OT Support Service within Honeywell's IT management framework, ensuring compliance and efficiency. Perform regular audits and updates to keep IT assets in optimal condition. Efficiency Improvement Work closely with Manufacturing teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal functionality. Critical Equipment Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve critical equipment problems quickly to minimize production interruptions. Implement and oversee corrective actions to prevent recurrence of equipment issues. Tech Debt Remediation Plan and execute tech debt remediation projects to update and modernize obsolete manufacturing systems. Develop strategies to manage and reduce technical debt, ensuring that systems remain current and effective. Technical Expertise and Support Utilize knowledge in LabVIEW and Python for software programming, development, and troubleshooting. Apply basic electronics knowledge to assist with hardware-related tasks and troubleshooting. Manage computer networking, web application development, SQL databases, and IT administration to support operational needs. Collaboration and Communication Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, IT, and manufacturing. Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.
