Job Summary
This position has management responsibility and line of sight ownership focus for shipping/receiving functions, production scheduling and material procurement & management for the Plant. This includes accountabilities for all incoming and outgoing raw materials, finished goods, transfers, as well as all aspects of safety performance for the department, personnel management and discipline, training, cost control/reduction and continuous improvement. Responsible for developing a strong team environment with clear and effective communications. This position will serve as a key interface with a variety of departments including Operations, Engineering & Maintenance, Technical Services, Inventory Control, Sales, Customer Service, etc. Standard hours of operation are Monday- Friday 40 hours a week with occasional overtime and weekend work required, no travel required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety of associates and equipment used in the Plant shipping and receiving areas.
- Supervision, coaching and development of associates.
- Quality of services provided to all "customers."
- Understand and communicate shipping costs and details.
- MRP Controller for all raw materials for the Plant.
- Managing production orders and production order variances (POV).
- Organizing and leading the annual Physical Inventory event for the plant.
- Assist Plant Production Scheduler/Plant Management with materials alignment issues as needs arise.
- Cycle counting all raw materials and expense materials on a routine basis (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing and material control.
- Assist with the management of the various waste streams in the plant including Haz waste, cardboard, plastic, etc.
- COS:
- Countermeasure identification and resolution.
- Participation in daily boardwalk process.
- Sustainment of COS initiatives, countermeasures, and kaizen events.
- Short- and Long-Term Department Planning and Development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Essential Full Performance Knowledge :
- Knowledge of proper purchasing practices and shipping operations utilizing outside logistic businesses to move materials and finished goods. Basic knowledge of SPC processes, cycle counting, etc. to maintain and enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency. Government regulations related to people, plant, and shipping operations such as FMLA, OSHA, ADA, Hazardous Chemicals, etc. Company policies and procedures which include job postings, employee handbook, job evaluation, appraisal process and general human relations. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge preferred. Financial and accounting familiarity including budgeting cost control, financial data and project justification and ACE Process. An overall understanding of the logistics process and inventory control as well as an understanding of customer service requirements and needs.
Essential Full Performance Skills:
- Personal computer skills as well as a working ability to utilize standard programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP, Shop Floor Information System (SFIS), ADP. Oral and written communication skills including the ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations. Good organizational skills along with effective time Ability to effectively delegate to subordinates and others in supporting roles. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stress and make decisions under a variety of challenging circumstances.

Education and Experience:
- Required:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Materials Management, or similar field required.
- Three (3)- Five (5) years of experience in a proven leadership position in a manufacturing environment required.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in a logistics/materials management position preferred.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills preferred.
- CPIM (Certified Production Inventory Management) certificate preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Generally office, warehouse, and manufacturing setting. Priorities change quickly and the person must be able to adapt and prioritize appropriately.
- Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
- Exposure to hazardous mechanical, electrical, and chemical substances/equipment.
