Summary This position is a part of the Region 3 Individual Assistance Branch and a disaster leadership position to deploy to disaster sites across the nation and lead Individual Assistance operations. As part of the Individual Assistance field operations team, successful candidates will work with and effectively prepare for and delivery of Individual Assistance programs.\u003Cbr /\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003EThis is a field leadership position expected to be deployed to disasters for a minimum of 217 calendar days per year. Duties \u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat will I do in this position if hired?\u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E \u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist position, you will lead collaborative efforts with federal, state, local, and/or tribal partners to facilitate seamless coordination in implementing various components of Individual Assistance Programs. This includes experience with Disaster Recovery Centers, community services, and managing information to deliver Individual Assistance for post-disaster recovery efforts. This is a field leadership position expected to be deployed to disasters for a minimum of 217 calendar days per year.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003ETypical assignments include:\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003ELeading and delivering Individual Assistance (IA) programs. Coordinating with internal and external partners, including state, local, tribal, and federal entities, to set up and manage Disaster Recovery Centers and implement IA programs such as Disaster Unemployment Assistance, Disaster Legal Services, Crisis Counseling, and Disaster Case Management.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EOverseeing/leading the IA Branch to ensure that structure and staffing are Incident Command System (ICS) compliant. \u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESupervising and managing field staff during disaster recovery efforts, setting priorities for Individual Assistance (IA) program delivery, establishing and evaluating work assignments, setting priorities, preparation, and discussion of formal performance evaluations.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECreating staffing patterns for all Disaster Recovery Centers, Joint Field Offices, and Geographic Operations locations. \u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECollaborate with emergency management stakeholders to build and sustain relationships, conduct planning, and improve response and recovery capabilities.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E Providing ongoing updates/briefings to senior officials at FEMA, federal, voluntary, state and local agencies on Individual Assistance disasters.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork with contracting officers to support the implementation of recovery programs and ensure accurate documentation, including reviewing and editing grant submissions.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat else do I need to know? \u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAt FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. \u003C/strong\u003EEvery FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
