Job Summary

The summer intern will help develop methods for analytical instrumentation in our Analytical R&D lab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and research project background and status with mentor
  • Develop/validate method using gas and liquid chromatography and other analytical techniques
  • Conduct analytical evaluations and quantification
  • Make novel observations
  • Collect and interpret data
  • Draw sound conclusions based on data analysis
  • Summarize work and write SOPs
  • Present project reviews before colleagues and peers
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOP's, ASTM's, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Hands-on experience with separation techniques is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage several projects at one time
  • A junior or senior enrolled in an accredited four-year institution
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Major in chemistry, polymer science or materials science
  • Previous internship experience a plus
