Job Overview The Associate, Industrial Engineer supports the Maintenance and Engineering Department, responsible for developing and maintaining network modeling for operational processes, storage capacity, and throughput capabilities within the Macy's distribution center network. The position focuses on implementing key strategic initiatives to enhance network and facility capabilities through expansion and the integration of new technologies. What You Will Do
Skills You Will Need Analytical Skills: Proficiency in performing detailed analytics on business and operational data to derive insights and produce executive reports summarizing findings and conclusions. Engineering Expertise: Knowledge of material handling systems, engineering economics, human factors, systems design, and optimization, with a focus on enhancing productivity, ergonomics, and safety. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project, with experience in data visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI. Proficiency in SQL and other scripting languages is also advantageous. Project Management: Ability to plan and execute strategies effectively, including overseeing the implementation of new technologies and material handling solutions within distribution centers. Six Sigma: Familiarity with Six Sigma principles and methodologies for process improvement, quality management, and reduction of defects. Problem-Solving: Capability to evaluate operational opportunities, identify issues, and provide recommendations through detailed analytics and solutions development. Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely. Experience in writing effective reports and memos is essential. Mathematical and Reasoning Skills: Above-average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate methodical, analytical, and detail-oriented thinking. Resourcefulness: Ability to work efficiently, complete assigned tasks with strong follow-through, and create solutions from abstract concepts and ideas. Supply Chain Only and Colleagues Working in a Supply Chain Facility except in locations governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement: Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances.
