Performs preventative maintenance tasks; supports and troubleshoots computer systems, mobile devices and peripheral equipment; and provides end-user support throughout the City. Assists in the maintenance of City of Bloomington IT assets, and provides purchasing and inventory support. This job description is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all job functions performed. The following are essential duties for this position, performed with or without reasonable accommodation: Essential (Primary) Provides ongoing end-user support including localized, personal training of hardware and software, and answers questions. Troubleshoots problems, contacting hardware and software vendors when necessary. Responds to telephone, e-mail, walk-in, and helpdesk system trouble tickets. Calls are entered into the system tracking system. Configures and deploys new and removes old desktop computers, printers, and peripheral equipment. Researches products and requests quotes for user technology solutions. Creates Purchase Orders for City financial systems ensuring all applicable City financial and purchasing policies are followed. Receives, verifies and records items shipped to the ITS department. Maintains accurate inventory on all items received or installed. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves problems, and provides preventative maintenance on existing desktop computers, laptop, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment to prevent further occurrences. Keeps current with industry trends and technologies. Takes all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment. Non-Essential (Secondary) Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum knowledge equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field such as Computer Information Systems or Information Science. Minimum experience in similar position of one year. or more Ability to identify and diagnose problems, perform installation, maintenance and repair on the City's information technology systems. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. Difficulty of Workplace Performs a broad range of duties that require an understanding of a large number of different, interconnected systems. The incumbent will occasionally be required to work with users who are in some distress. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. by themselves, anything above that is a two-person task. Work is performed in a modern office environment. Emergencies may require incumbents to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Personal Work Relationships Incumbent is in constant contact with City employees in order to resolve their information technology issues. Maintains frequent contact with Department staff in order to resolve issues and accomplish installation, management, maintenance, and repair tasks as a team. |
